GRS – Global Recycled Standard.
We use recycled materials throughout our collections, including recycled cotton and RPET. The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an international certification standard used to verify the origin of recycled materials and compliance with relevant requirements throughout the supply chain. For products where GRS certification applies, it provides important supporting evidence for claims about recycled materials. The available certification documentation depends on the specific product and the materials used.
REACH – Control of chemical substances.
REACH (EC 1907/2006) is the European regulation governing the use of chemical substances. We require our suppliers to ensure that materials comply with current REACH requirements. To support this, we regularly carry out random laboratory tests on materials and products, including unannounced testing where necessary. This helps us monitor compliance with REACH regulations throughout our supply chain.
GPSR – Product safety.
The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR, EU 2023/988) strengthens product safety requirements within the European Union. SL BAGS closely monitors developments relating to this regulation and works with suppliers to ensure that the necessary product information and traceability data remain available. This helps us support a safe and transparent supply chain.
Additional European regulations.
In addition to REACH and GPSR, we also take other relevant European regulations into account.
Textile labelling – EU 1007/2011. For textile products, we aim to provide accurate and transparent information about fibre composition. In doing so, we follow European textile labelling requirements.
POPs Regulation – EU 2019/1021. The POPs Regulation restricts the use of substances that can be harmful to people and the environment and persist in nature for long periods. We expect our suppliers to ensure that materials comply with current requirements. To verify this, we regularly arrange testing of materials and products, including random checks.
PPWR – EU 2025/40. The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation introduces new European requirements for packaging, waste reduction and circularity. SL BAGS collects packaging data throughout the supply chain and works with suppliers to optimise packaging materials and reduce the environmental impact of packaging.
Food contact material testing for cooler bags. The inner lining of cooler bags may come into contact with unpackaged food. We therefore ask our suppliers to provide relevant Food Contact Declarations and supporting test documentation in accordance with applicable European regulations, including EC 1935/2004.
In addition, we arrange periodic testing of the materials used by independent laboratories. This helps us verify the suitability of materials for food contact and monitor compliance with applicable requirements.
Confidence through testing and documentation.
Product safety and reliable material information require ongoing attention. That’s why we work closely with our suppliers, set clear requirements for materials and products, and use independent laboratory testing. This helps our distributors make informed product choices and provide their customers with accurate and reliable information.
