Product CO2 Footprint
Transparent impact, responsible choices
Sustainability is for SL BAGS Not just a marketing term, but a concrete element of how we develop and deliver our products. That's why we provide insight into the product CO₂ footprint of our bags and suitcases using the IPPAG Carbon Footprint Calculator. This makes the environmental impact of our products measurable, transparent, and solvable.
What is a Product Carbon Footprint?
The Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) shows how much CO₂ a product emits throughout its entire lifecycle, from the extraction and production of materials to the production process itself, including transport and logistics, packaging, and, where relevant, the final product phase. Calculating these emissions provides a clear and objective picture of the environmental impact of a specific bag, which forms the basis for targeted sustainability improvements.
Why do we think this is important?
Our customers increasingly expect insight into product sustainability. Not just in words, but backed by data. By measuring CO₂ impact:
- we take responsibility for the impact of our products
- we help customers make conscious choices
- we can make targeted improvements in materials, production and logistics
- we build trust and transparency
For us, the Product CO₂ footprint is not an end goal, but a starting point for becoming more sustainable step by step.
What is IPPAG?
IPPAG (International Partnership for Premiums & Gifts) is a global network of leading companies in promotional products and merchandise. Knowledge sharing, innovation, and sustainability are central to this network.
IPPAG develops practical tools and standards that enable member companies, such as SL BAGS, can measure their environmental impact in a consistent and reliable manner.
SL BAGS uses IPPAG Carbon Tracking Tool
SL BAGS uses the IPPAG Carbon Tracking Tool to calculate the carbon footprint of our products. This tool was specifically developed for the promotional and merchandise industry and is certified by Bureau Veritas in accordance with the ISO 14067:2018 guidelines for calculating and reporting carbon emissions per product (PCF).
In concrete terms, this means that for each product, we consider the materials used, the production locations and associated production processes, the chosen transport distances and methods, as well as the packaging in which the product is delivered. Recycling and disassembly are also taken into account. In other words, we consider emissions throughout the entire product life cycle (LCA).
Based on this data, the IPPAG calculator calculates the total CO₂ emissions of a bag. This provides a clear and comparable result that we can use for internal optimization and external communication.
From insight to action
The insight into the Product CO₂ footprint enables SL BAGS Enables us to make targeted and informed choices. By clearly mapping the CO₂ impact of our bags, we can critically examine material use, production processes, and logistics routes. This data forms the basis for researching alternative, more sustainable materials, optimizing production efficiency, and improving transport and packaging.
This way, we translate measurable insights directly into practical improvements in our supply chain. Not as a one-time exercise, but as an ongoing process in which we collaborate with our partners and customers to create products with a lower environmental impact, without compromising on quality, functionality, or appearance.
Transparency as standard
By using this IPPAG Carbon Footprint Calculator, we underscore our ambition to make sustainability concrete and verifiable. No vague claims, but substantiated and honest insights. That's what you can expect from us.
